Wotcher, Nosy.
I’m a big nagger. But it’s always said with love.
Today, I’m nagging you to reuse or recycle your content. This week I tweaked and reposted an old “hit” LinkedIn post about my morning routine as a freelancer and parent.
The original, posted ten months ago:
38.5k impressions, 777 reactions and 250 comments
The updated version, posted two days ago:
18k impressions, 450 reactions and almost 200 comments*
For context, most of my posts are probably around the 1.5-2k impressions mark with the odd outlier bringing in 5k+. So these are “big” for me, huge for others, miniscule for some. It’s all relative.
My pal Dave likes to remind me, all an “impression” means is that your post has been on someone’s screen for a fraction of a second. But I still find the figures useful for comparisons. And the interactions mean people have seen the post long enough to react and/or comment.
So while I’d never suggest you go chasing vanity metrics, repurposing older content can be an easy “win” to get you in front of people. Especially when a post resonates with people who have shared experiences or the same sense of humour.
Each post helps people get to know, like, and trust you that little bit more.
Next time you’re a bit stuck on what to post, have a look in your analytics, switch it to the past 365 days, and look at the posts that brought in the most eyeballs and clicks. Can you use them again?
*Worth noting when you see the number of comments at the bottom of a post, often a lot of are the original poster’s replies. I used to try and reply to all comments but without wanting to sound like a doorknob, it got difficult due to the volume.
Anyway. Speak soon, friend. Until then, keep nosing.
